Stronger Intellectual Property Rights Means a Stronger Economy

http://atr.org/stronger-intellectual-property-rights-means-economy-a3279
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/intellectual%20property
People who are creators innovators and thinkers make up the most sucessful sector of our American economy. intellectual property is valued at $5.5 trillion which drives fourty percent of the econ growth. but piracy has been threatening intelletual property because it discourages new advances when so much of it is being illegally copyrighted, used or sold etc. around $200-$250 billion is lost in sales because of piracy. China, Russia, Spain and Thailand are four of the countries that are well known for violating these property laws due to copyrighting. the countries that protect these property rights have almost nine times greater gdp per capita compared to the countries that dont.
i agree with this article, i think it is very important to protect intellecual as well as physical property rights in this country. if everyone followed these rules $200-$250 billion would not be lost but be circulating in our economy right now. people worked hard to think of and create these things and we need to give credit where credit is due. these people drive fourty percent of our economic growth so its not like this is a minor offense. i think the us needs to take more stands against piracy and make punishments stronger.

Globalization and Its Discontents

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deregulation
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wto
This is the time of globalization. The 21 century is expanding its ideas on freer trade and free market capitalism to multiple nations across the world. these ideas are ruled by three certain policies WTO, the IMF, and the World Bank, all benifiting the free market economy. this sounds great but some argue that in this system the poor get the short end of the stick, the rich get richer at the expense of the poor. they also say that deregulation encourages nations to harm the enviornment and also doesnt contain issues like enforcing child labor laws. on the other hand, people for globalization say that it has especially helped after ww2 getting over three billion people out of poverty. and also places like china have improved their economic status by adopting globalization.

i think that globaliztion is a very good thing, it helps expand economic growth and as we can see it can help both the rich and poor in the economy. helping establish better trade in other countries can be easily accomplished if they execpt the free trade market into their government. in doing this other countries can be more connected with the world.

Milton Friedman a big supporter of free market economy would definatly support my decison. he would like to see it spread throughout many countries.

SEC may take aim at short sellers again

http://money.cnn.com/2009/03/10/news/uptick.fortune/index.htm?postversion=2009031016
The policy makers are looking for ways in order to fix the falling market. a new way in order to help fix it would be to put in place a law that would make short sellers (people that make money off of stocks when the prices fall) have to follow limits according to when they could bet against stocks. they call this rule the uptick rule and it prevents short sellers from selling shares when a stocks price is declining. they are having a meeting next month to see if they want to reinstate this rule or not. if it were to be put in place short sellers would have to wait for the stocks price to rise before making a sale.

i think that putting in effect this law that will make short sellers wait to sell until the price is up on a stock will help stabilize the market. the uptick rule has been put in effect before and it worked for a while so i think that for a short term fix it should be put into effect so that we can get the market back up and running which will in turn boost our economy. many people are looking for ways to get the marked back to a bull market so if this will effect it positivly in any way i think that we should go ahead and start it up.

Jobless Rate Hits 7.6%; 598,000 Positions Lost in January

http://www.foxbusiness.com/story/markets/economy/employers-shed--jobs-january-unemployment-rate-hits/

Many jobs have been lost this year because of the recession. 598,000 jobs have been lost just in January. economists thought that only 540,000 jobs would be lost but 58,000 jobs more were lost than many people were expecting. the rate of unemployment was 7.2% in december and rose to 7.6% in January.
i think that this is a little bit surprising. especailly since the professsional economists thought that there would be less jobs lost than how many jobs were actually lost. 7.6% is a really high job loss rate. i hope that Obama and his administration will be able to think of great ideas to create more jobs and find better ways to stimulate the economy so that there would be less jobs losing money if there are more people funding the buisness and compainies. we need to have faith in our government and we have to be willing to make opprotunity costs for the sake of our government.

It is so sad that this little girl was writing to santa to stop the molestation of her and her sister! alls she wanted for christmas was for the abuse to stop! the molestation could have been going on for four years!! meaning the little girl was getting abused since she was five! the realative accused of molesting the two girls can face up to 99 years in prision
http://kinziehauer.blogspot.com/
i totallly agree that is a shame that someone would even consider doing this to such innocent sweeet girls. i hope that the man that did it gets the full 99 years in prison with no bail whatsoever. he ruined two lives so in payment he should suffer the rest of his years..
